Uni to Apprenticeship

I've applied to many apprenticeships and gotten rejected by many as well; I'm making progress now, though, but I have a dilemma:

In the event that I get apprenticeship offers that weren't my first choice, I shouldn't take those or go to uni and then apply again, hoping to get into the ones I really want next year and continuing uni if not?
