Civil engineering?

I recently got a conditional offer for a bridges and structure degree apprenticeship but I am unsure on whether doing civil engineering is worth it in the long term.

For example civil engineers are typically on site like construction right? I don’t want to do that but I am not sure whether that’s all civil engineering is about tho.

Can someone give me an insight into this and advice on whether to go into civil engineering through a degree apprenticeship and such? Well mostly about civil engineering the pay.. apparently it’s very underpaid and undervalued too. I don’t want to work in a sector where I can’t change jobs/ small job market with low pay for the work that I am doing.

Thank you!
