Do you guys know how many postgraduates there will be? I couldn’t seem to find how many offers they usually make.

Thank youuu!! What are people thinking for accommodation? I have had a look at both postgraduate and undergraduate but would much prefer a postgraduate flat

Haha I know exactly what you mean, they seem so young! Are you firming NCL?

honestly I'm not sure, I keep going back and forth between Newcastle and Swansea! Newcastle was my first choice when I was applying but part of me thinks it would be nice to be on a grad only course and I can't decide ://

I feel the same about Newcastle Vs Warwick - Newcastle was always my first choice but I’m really leaning towards Warwick because it’s grad only and because of the placement proximity and university support.

I’m looking at off campus accommodation. If anyone familiar with Newcastle has advice on areas to look at, I’m coming from London and have no clue 😅

ooh, Jesmond is the newcastle student classic, as in the area around the r west jesmond metro stop is super popular with students. someone reccomended i check out Heaton because it is less gentrified so cheaper. my friend lived in sandyford road and said it was a rly quiet chill place in between the centre and jesmond. but obvs idk if postgrads maybe live elsewhere to undergrads!?

This is so helpful, thank you! I’m thinking if there are students, whether undergrad or postgrad, the commute must not be too bad, so I’ll look in those areas.

No problem!! Heaton is a bit further out ( hence cheaper), around 45 min walk to med school. West Jesmond is about half an hour walk, and Sandyford is 20 minutes! I guess you could find somewhere right by the centre/ med school but there is also the metro and buses to help out with commutes )

Hi, excited to meeting you once we start in September and at the offer holder day. I have put a link to the offer holder day programme, hopefully it works for you

I’m leaning toward firming A101 GEM instead of A100. Has anyone done the same already? Or talked to any grads on the course? There were none at my offer holder day either 😅

i had the same choice to make!! i’ve firmed A101, but insured A100. it was a shame there wasn’t an opportunity for grads to meet up and find each other at the open day!! was such a lovely day but it would have been great to meet other grad medics

Yea I was hoping for grad experiences at open day but it was still good to hear from other students and learn the course structure a bit more. Did anything sway you to the final decision of A101? Still a bit undecided before making the commitment 😅

Honestly I love the A100 structure too because it feels like you can really take your time in the first couple years, but financially it always had to be A101 coz you can get student loan funding for that. if that wasn’t a thing then it would be a much harder choice!!

I am going to find private accomodation, I've done student accom before and want somewhere a bit nicer this time round 🙂. Ideally i would like to share a place with people on the same course as we're all a bit older and would have similar timetables etc., so if anyone is interested then lmk!!!

oooh have u started looking at any houses yet? i’m still torn between student or private accom but i totally get what u mean about sharing with people with similar timetables

Yah i've been looking at places and I feel like the student accom. is really expensive for what you get. There are some really nice house / flat shares for cheaper that I would much rather go for 🙂. It gets significantly cheaper the more people you share with but even living alone I think it's still a better fit for me personally.
