bcu interview for Primary Education

Guys, I need some assistance 😭

I have my interview coming up with BCU, and they’ve asked me to share an artefact of my choice and explain how i would use it in a lesson.

I dont know what to do or say, please, can someone give me some advice?

Hi there,

Congrats on making it to the interview stage! 🙂

Try not to put too much pressure on which artefact you choose as there isn't a 'perfect' choice here. The main point of the task is to see how you communicate your ideas and how you would adapt your artefact into a lesson scenario.

You could think about how the artefact could provide a topic for your lesson and how you would present your ideas in a lesson format. What activities or tasks you might include, what discussion topics could your artefact start up, or even more simply consider what the artefact means to you/ why you chose it and how you could use this as lesson inspiration.

If you haven't had a look already, here's a link to the BCU webpage with some more interview advice: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/health-education-and-life-sciences/application-guidance/education-interview

I hope this helps and good luck for your interview! 🙂

Hi @anonymous #1

When deciding on my artefact, I started off by choosing a subject that I was interested in, for me that was science. I then considered what objects I could use to teach different topics. I ended up choosing to use a bowl of water and discussed a few different ways that this could be used, for example to test whether objects float.

Hope that helps!
