GCSE Revision Help!

How do I get my life together and get focused for GCSES. I am behind in most my subjects with topics, I'm not understanding content and my revision timetables, the pomodoro technique and daily to do list aren't working anymore. I either don't stick to it, set unrealistic goals for the day and don't really get anything done and am lost. I need advice on what to do I want mainly a's and b's.

I revised 2 months before the actual exam. What I did was to write on a physical calendar the subjects that I would revise each day (1-2 subjects) but I don’t specify my study time or necessarily follow it perfectly. Instead, I use the timetable as a guideline. As for the revision technique itself, I revise and break whenever I feel like it as long as I follow my guideline on the timetable. This way, it’s more realistic to manage and follow.

Hey, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing and how you've been finding revising these past two weeks? Have you managed to find revision techniques that are working better for you?

When I was a student I would put too much pressure on myself to revise non stop and set unrealistic goals too. I just want to emphasise the importance of taking regular breaks, and also plan something exciting to look forward to after revision and exams, that always helps me stay motivated.

I'd say keep trying new techniques until you find ones that work best for you. For me, I'd always use Quizlet as the flashcards really helped me remember important details, and I'd also record myself reading my revision notes out loud and then play these like a podcast during bus rides, my walks to school etc. I'd also attend revision sessions at school as I found them really beneficial.

Perhaps studying with your friends would help? And then you could all go grab a coffee afterwards as a bit of a reward.

Best of luck with your exams!

Things have been getting better the only thing is that I'm getting distracted by my phone a lot. Other than that things are going well.

I'm glad to hear things are getting better, it sounds like you're getting back on track 🙂

There's an app called Forest that helps with distractions and keeping off your phone, basically you can plant virtual trees that grow only while you stay off your phone for a set amount of time, might be a bit more of a fun way to try staying off your phone.

Best of luck
