I'm between choosing cardiff, reading, Manchester, and bath for pharmacy (I don't have offers yet but I have done interviews.) As I lived these couple of years in london hence I want to live in a city that would have a lot of stuff like london.
(Please help me find two choices so if they give me offers I firm one and insure the other)

In terms of size and therefore the assumption that there is more 'stuff' to do, then Manchester, Cardiff, Reading then Bath. But it depends what things interest you. Have you visited all the unis? Where could you see yourself living happily for four years. If living costs are an issue, you need to compare accommodation fees for all years of the course so look at both university halls and private rentals. Also, look at travel costs and times for trips back home. Also, search uni/student union websites for details of societies that you are hoping to join.

Hi @userr456 ,

It is great to hear that you are considering the University of Reading to study Pharmacy 🙂 Reading is a great choice if you enjoy London, as it is only 25 minutes to London Paddington by train which makes London very accessible to travel to. The Reading town is also very popular, with lots of things to do, from shopping, to activities and lots of bars/restaurants. I have really enjoyed living in Reading and its a great university town! I would recommend visiting an open day to get a feel for the different universities if you can! If not, virtual tours are also great options. The virtual tour for Reading can be found here.

As for the course itself, it is really important to ensure that it aligns with what you want to achieve from your degree. You can read all about the Mpharm Pharmacy degree here which provides an outline of the overview, entry requirements, structure, fees and careers from studying at Reading 🙂

Best of luck in finding the right fit for you! Do let us know if you have any more questions about student life at Reading!

Millie 🙂

As someone who has applied for Reading, Bath and Cardiff for pharmacy, I would say that bath is very rural compared to the other Universities you have applied to and has a lot less to do around the city (other than tourism). Most students in bath will take a train to Bristol or Cardiff for clubs or cheap things to do.

Reading is also quite out of the way despite being "outer London", not much to do around there either.

Your best options are Cardiff and Manchester if the City life and social activities are what you value from a university. So my advice would be to make a spread sheet comparing the universities based on what you want from university life and going to offer holder days. Offer holder days are great for getting a feel for what the area is like and whether you'd like to actually go there.

Good luck with choosing:smile:))

Hi there!

Its great to hear you've chosen such a good range of unis for your pharmacy studies.

As others have said, Bath has a fantastic academic reputation but is a much smaller city than Manchester and Cardiff, although there are a lot of nice pubs, a few neat nightclubs and plenty to do and see. However although its important to live in a city you like being in, its more important to choose the uni which offers the course you think you will enjoy more, as this is what you'll be doing for the next 3-4 years. This will really help keep you motivated!

Try and go for your fave as your firm (this could also be your aspirational choice), and somewhere where you'd also really like to go to as your insurance (this should be 1-2 grades below your PGs to give you a safety net).

I hope that helps a bit, best of luck with your choices!

Hiya!

Cardiff student here! I would say that Cardiff is a brilliant city if you want lots of things to do, but also experience more of a close-knit vibe. In Cardiff, the campus is basically right next to the city center, and its usually a 10-15 minute walk to get into town. So I would say compared to London, you're not usually spending much on public transport. Once you're in town though, there is so much to do! I'm currently in my final year and I haven't been to everything haha.

I think one of the benefits of Cardiff is the arcades (though not the gaming kind)! They're basically shopping centres that date back to the Victorian and Edwardian times, and they are absolutely stunning! I also really like how you get a lot of small, independent businesses that holds community events. The first thought that comes to mind are places like Porters in city centre, that hosts theatre productions, but also concerts and pub nights.

Is there any particular activity you enjoy doing?

Hi again,

Bath do have a bit of a reputation for giving out later offers than other unis talked about on here and so I really wouldn't panic! No news is good news as always, and we're aiming to try and get back to everybody with decisions by late-April. No need to worry at this stage, just bear with us 🙂 as frustrating as we know it is!

Best of luck
