Why is it good

Well as an owner of other banks I can't really see any negatives for me.

Everything is done online these days.

Some things are yes.
But some things are still better done in branch. For example i had an issue with closing down an old savings account recently, i had to go into branch to sort it. The woman who i dealt with in branch said that there was a round the houses way of doing it. Just the same as things like mortgage appointments, some banks ive recently found dont do those in branch nowadays either. Some people prefer them to be done in branch than online.
Some things you have to go into a branch for, such as paying cash in etc.
With doing everything online- there are quite a few people out there who arent confident/arent the best with using technology. Some people might not have access to technology (for whatever reason). Closing branches would not help them at all.
