Is it possible to teach history without a history degree?

Hi, I’m a currently coming to the end of my third year of university studying BA (hons) Education. I chose this degree as I was unsure of becoming a primary school teacher or History teacher. I have decided that I’d love to persue a career in history teaching, and would rather not teach younger children.
I’m now worrying this will now not be possible?
Would I have to do a masters degree or would an a level work?
I wish someone told me at the beginning of my degree that a degree within the subject would be mandatory. 😭

I suggest that you enquire about Master's degrees. Ask several universities if you can apply for a Master's degree in History with your degree in Education.

To pick just one example, Oxford says this: "To apply for a Masters course you do not need to have a single honours/major degree in history, but you do need some experience of working on a historical subject at university level. You need to have a solid idea why you want to undertake your proposed project, know what skills you have, and how you’re going to gain the skills you don’t have."
