Maintenance Loan appeal with estrangement

Hiya! Hoping someone could help me with me as I'm wondering if I need any other further evidence for my maintenance loan appeal.
Both of my parents are deceased and I am being housed with a family member who is not my legal guardian and does not financially support me. I applied for the maximum maintenance loan and sent evidence off (parents death certificates) and was only granted 4k which wont support me when I start uni and live in accommodation. I am currently filling out the appeal form and I don't exactly have much to say except parents are deceased and I have no guardian and as a result no financial support for when I start uni. Do I need any further evidence to back my appeal up as I think its a bit lacklustre and I want them to take me seriously.
Thank you so much!! :3

Hi there,

When did you submit your evidence? Have we contacted you to say that we did not accept your evidence? How old are you?

Thanks, Drew

EVERYONE is granted the basic loan amount first of all.
It’s only after that that SFE look at your evidence to work out household income. The second part takes 4-8 weeks.
If you’ve only just been granted the basic loan amount then you don’t need to appeal (and doing so will slow things down!). You just need to wait until the full assessment has been done.
