Does anyone else here regret going to university?

I found university to be a thoroughly miserable experience and am now long term unemployed (two years after graduation). Even gaining a First Class Degree means ultimaely nothing these days.

Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way as me. Thanks.

I'm sorry to read that you're still struggling job wise, I really though something wpuld come through for you by now.

I've been there in the past and it's utterly soul destroying.

Who woulda thunk it. An unemployed media grad.

I think we all know that you regret starting the degree you didn’t want to study by now.

Clearly posting yet another thread about it on tsr won’t improve things.

Didn’t you make a thread a while back saying you were leaving TSR but you’re still here?

I come back on occasion because I am bored and I want to see if TSR is still here

I know bro, it's awful. I hope something does happen soon.

The subject does not matter. There's been reports on TSR and on Reddit and a whole host of other social media websites of people who have done all sorts of degrees and are unemployed. Both short and long term.

I have a friend who went to a Russell Group university and is short term unemployed after being made redundant.

Its not too suprising you're unemployed two years after graduating given you gave up on employment four years ago.

I did then yes, however I thought things would get better after getting a First in my degree but unsurprisingly they did not.

Also trawling through my TSR post and comment history is a bit odd? Do you not have anything better to do?

At that time yes, but I was very depressed (well I still am) but I thought things would get better after university. They did not.

It might do. I was hoping people would give me advice concerning what to do, not make me feel worse for past decisions.

Can you not even get a job waiting tables or something to make a little money and at least get you outside the house. The longer you remain unemployed the worse it gets because you'll need to explain the empty years on your CV and in interviews. Just go for anything and carry on looking in the meantime.

It's been here for decades. It's not going to vanish all of a sudden given how many people use it.

People are being unnecessarily mean in the comments here lol, I’m still at uni and somewhat feel the same. Though my regret is more at wasting the opportunity and also finding uni to be a thoroughly miserable experience. Most grads are unemployed for a substantial amount of time though, especially if you hold out for a graduate job instead of just working retail or hospitality

Every time you post these threads you dismiss all the advice you get given

Have you spoken to your doctor about taking anti-depressants?

I'm not sure it's true that 'most grads are unemployed for a substantial amount of time' though. I have no idea on the statistics but I don't imagine a majority will still be unemployed 6 months after graduation and certainly not over 2 years like OP.
