Hi! - I do Edexcel Christmas Carol and Macbeth too. 😊
I managed to pull up my grades from 7s to 9s in language and literature last year, here's what I did:
1) Deep analysis of quotes (literature) - always think about connotations of connotations and link back to wider themes. For example, in A Christmas Carol, always link the quote back to ideas about social responsibility and Dickens' own beliefs.
2) Essay plans - helps SO much with time management and prepares you for all sorts of essays. Plan quotes and overall messages for any possible theme or character that could come up so you are 100% prepared.
3) Using higher vocabulary - this gets you extra marks. For example, for Macbeth, talk about the Divine Right of Kings or use 'hubris' to describe Macbeth's ambition.
4) Watch videos! These help get your ideas flowing - I recommend DystopiaJunkie for poetry and 5QuoteShakespeare for Macbeth but there are so many out there!
5) Using PEAEAR Structure for Literature - Point, Evidence, Analysis, Evidence, Analysis, Reader response + link back
