I got an offer for the medical course at Birmingham 2025/2026 start and am deciding currently whether I should put it as my firm choice. If you are a medical student at Birmingham, may I ask if you find all the support you need when your are finding the course difficult. I am aware that studying at school is very different from university and was wondering if you find the element of independent learning difficult or you can you manage it with support from tutors?

Hi Asmaa! Congratulations on your offer  I’m not a medical student myself, so I can’t speak directly to the course experience. But I’d definitely recommend reaching out to current medical students on platforms like Unibuddy (through the University of Birmingham website) or even LinkedIn. Most students are happy to share honest insights about the support and workload.
From what I’ve heard, the med school here has a strong support system in place, and while independent learning is a big part of it, you’re not left to figure things out on your own.
Wishing you all the best with your decision & hope to see you here in September 2025
