What uni would accept me with grades AAD?

I completed my a levels last year and applied for uni this year. I didn’t manage to get in to my top choices Exeter and Bristol. Both having a similar entry requirements of AAB. Just wondering what the likelihood is that business will be available in clearing and that I would be successful. I’m not sure if there is any russel group unis that would accept it ?
Hi Louise,

Thanks for reaching out! What end up in clearing varies a lot year on year and is very hard to predict. However, if you go to UCAS after 05th July this year you will be able to enter what area you're interested in into the search tool and see what comes up.

You'll have to have a check to see what grades each choice are looking for and any essential subject requirements. In your case, you may want to check out any that have UCAS points as an alternative to actual grade requirements as it may give you more options.

I'd also try not to be swayed by the RG label as at the end of the day, its just that: a label. Although there are good unis in the group, there are plenty of other good unis not in the group. It all comes down to what each course offers and if it sounds interesting to you.

I hope this helps a bit, and best of luck!

What subject is the D grade?

With AAD, it would be a good idea to look at UCAS points type Unis rather than RG etc, who would be very unlikely to be in Clearing for Business, and even less likely to accept a D grade.

Thank you so much Holly ! I applied to bath too so might see what they have to offer in clearing as well. Just never know the leniency with unis especially during clearing. I messaged Bristol and they said they don’t tend to offer D grades in clearing so not feeling too hopeful 😭

Honestly just do your best at the end of the day everything happens for a reason !! I did OCR A last year and HATED IT but honestly it’s the reason I took a gap year and went to Australia so actually I only regret it when it comes down to the clearing process but it’s meant I’ve done so much more things with my life 😭 I’m just going to email as many unis prior and try and figure out what’s next. May just end up moving to aus at this point !

Hi @Louiseb1244 ,

Clearing is an excellent way to get into university! Firstly, I recommend looking at the grade requirements of some universities you are interested in, this way you can get a general idea of what will be required of you.

Secondly, I recommend expanding your search outside Russel groups. Many universities outside Russel groups have excellent business courses. I'd love to share a bit about UCLan, which is the top business school in the north west. I'm currently studying business and management and I can confidently this course is preparing me for the changing business landscape. It priorities building strong foundations of knowledge before deepening our understandings. My favourite part of what the university offers is our unique student enterprise, which advices and guides students in setting up their businesses, alongside having the possibility of funding and work space.

Overall, I'm confident you will find an excellent university with your grades if you search wider than Russel groups .

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (Business and Management)
