Want to study equine medicine. Chose the wrong A-Levels. HELP!!!

I am currently in Y12 doing three A-Levels - English Language, Fine Art & Ethics/Philosophy.
Recently came to the conclusion that I want to go into a veterinarian degree for university but I know a lot require good grades in A-Levels like Biology & Chemistry.
Am I screwed?? How do I fix this?

The title of your post states you want to study equine medicine. There is no such thing as an equine veterinary medicine degree. You will have to spend five/six years in university studying veterinary medicine in general and then once you graduate you can choose to practice as an equine vet. To apply to study veterinary medicine you will need A levels in biology and chemistry, along with a third subject and you will usually be required to be predicted A grades or higher in them all (although some universities will give contextual offers in some circumstances).
You could potentially consider an access course after you’ve taken your current A levels but that’s something you’d have to look into further.
Your other options if you want to work with horses could be something like equine physiotherapy.

Have you done any work experience in a vet practice? That would be a good place to start as it might not be what you imagine.

I agree, you should do some work experince and research to make sure it is what you want. If that is still the case you may consider resitting y12, a girl in my school had to do this for vet science, or do your current a levels for 2 years and do a 1 year science access course after.

If you don’t want to re take a year or change a levels, look into courses at Hartpury university, not necessarily equine medicine (that also isn’t a course in itself, it would be veterinary medicine and then specialisation further after) however there is many equine science courses, equine veterinary nurse courses, equine dentistry and physiotherapy courses also. It may say they require sciences however when I spoke to them they also offered foundation courses and were very lenient. Definitely worth giving them an email to ask.

Try foundation to Vetinary courses if you don’t change ur a levels x

If you’ve done work experience in the veterinary world and are sure that you want to change direction, then the quickest and most cost effective route is the access course. You would have to check which courses are accepted by which vet schools as not all vet schools accept them or have the same module requirements, but Bristol do, at the moment, guarantee offers to access course students doing a qualifying course . Gateway courses have fewer places and as such are even more competitive than standard 5 year courses, and an extra year at uni is way more expensive than an access course that will be funded on completion of your degree.
