Can anyone who has studied at Edinburgh College of Art please tell me what accommodation they recommend location and social wise. I have been having a look at mylnes court if anyone who has stayed there could please tell me their experience 😊🙏

I'm a second year ECA student. I think the accommodation with the most ECA students would be Riego Street as it's 2 minutes away from the main art building, but I've met people in my accommodation (Shrubhill) who also do art degrees - two of my flat mates are ECA students. I think everyone is pretty spread out, but Riego Street definitely seems to be a hub for ECA students. I almost applied there in first year but I was pretty put off by other factors.

Hi can I ask why you didn't chose Riego St please? Are many ECA students in Pollock or Kincaid?

No probs! I didn't choose Riego Street because it's pretty expensive for an accommodation without an en-suite. There are plenty of other accommodations without en-suite that are half the price of Riego Street (albeit they aren't as close to ECA) . I think the building at Riego Street is a little old too, and I wanted to feel as comfortable as possible in my first year since it was my first time moving away from home.

I'd imagine that there definitely wouldn't be as many ECA students in Pollock or Kincaid compared to Riego, but there will be ECA students in all accommodations.

Ultimately, it's up to you. If you don't mind having no en-suite then Riego might be perfect for you - there's bound to be a bunch of ECA students there.

Hello, I am going to study at ECA in September and have just been allocated Shrubhill. I was lost about what ones to apply for and picked the ensuite ones. Could you please let me know about your experience in Shrubhill and whether the distance to Uni is ok? Is it a nice place to be? thanks so much I feel lost! I had also applied to Salisbury and Brae house which I believe are a bit closer.
