Hi, have you checked the entry requirements for the University you would like to study at? Do you also have the required GCSE in Mathematics, English Language and Science for teaching ?

@Nicolesav25

If you are unsure speak to the admissions tutor for the University of your choice, you will also need GCSE English, Maths and Science at Grade 4 and above for Primary teaching.

I have taught on Access to HE for over 10 years, we used to have a Primary Teaching pathway but due to budget cuts we enrolled learners onto the Social Sciences Pathway instead (local universities said this was fine). Some learners were told to just pass the course (i.e. at least a pass for every unit in every module, and completion of the development units). Usually for progression to University for most courses, they give you a UCAS points tariff to achieve which requires a mixture of merits and distinctions usually to meet. Your tariff points are also calculated based on any A levels, BTEC's etc you have too, so they might be just looking for evidence of recent study.

there is a useful page on the Governments Teaching website- https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/train-to-be-a-teacher/qualifications-you-need-to-teach

HI @Nicolesav25,

It's great to hear you've applied to study Primary Education with us at NTU!

As Access to HE qualifications are highly specialised, we are often able to make offers outside of the standard tariff points framework. This will usually be given as a specific grade or attainment in your qualifications, such as 45 credits at a pass at Level 3. You should be able to view your conditions on your UCAS Hub; for Primary Education, you will additionally need to be able to show your Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and Science, so do check if this is still pending as part of any offer.

Our Admissions team would be happy to provide any specific advice on your application you may need, so don't hesitate to get back in touch if you have further questions!
