Kingston uni, bath spa uni or ual foundation?

ive got an unconditional from kingston and a conditional for bath spa, but im considering whether i should do a ual foundation instead?? if i do the ual foundation i’ll be able to get into ual’s colleges which if i dont stay in the uk for work would be good for its global rep and i might be able to get into the slade, but on the other hand kingston has a good rep in the uk and it’s an unconditional. but it doesnt have a work placement yr available and another worry of mine is not being able to find a company to sponsor my visa after i graduate bc i wont have any experience? another thing which i feel like sounds so stupid but i easily feel isolated and im actually terrified of moving to a smaller city / place like bath or kingston, if i do ual foundation and stay in london i’ll be living with my brother (idk this sounds trivial). ive asked people around me and they all have mixed opinions and i dont know what to do. another option is to stick with ual foundation, but then decline my other two offers and go into ucas extra to see if i can go straight into degree level with one of the ual colleges (ive emailed asking if this will be possible since ik the courses are really competitive, i just wasted a ucas choice on csm as i didnt do enough research to see that they need a foundation to enter) srry word vomit but any advice is appreciated

from what i’ve heard ual only gives a certain number of foundation students (i saw something like 20%) places on the degree programmes, lots of people do a foundation at other unis and then apply straight to a degree programme at ual since it gives them a better chance of being accepted

i have a really similar situation to you LOL i got an unconditional from kingston, i got a conditional into bath spa plus im waiting for my UAL foundation decision🤞. i also applied to ba fine art for the unis. i figured out i really want to do a foundation course (I’ve also applied to another foundation in a more local city- driving to do my interview there rn lmfao) to get more qualifications and build up my portfolio ykyk. I’ve been to the kingston offer holder day and it was okay, i wasn’t extremely excited but it seems like a decent place. so idk. bath spa was really lively and cool but they don’t have much connections like ual do + it’s far away. i think a foundation will do me good so yeah..im leaning towards that. I got rejected from UCL and got offers from loughborough and brighton too. wish u the best!!<3

Hi @tasha.ki

I think the best thing to do would be to create some sort of clear pro's and con's lists.

Also wondering have you been to any open days? I would recommend going to as many unis as you can as you get a good sense of what it might be like to live and study somewhere. Plus you get to meet current students and lectures. Open Days and events | Kingston University London

Would you be able to commute to Kingston? I know many students do this.

You could always do the foundation year at Kingston and then go to UAL or the other way around, because then you get a one year taster of the uni. Many of the Kingston undergraduate courses have placement years I guess it just depends what course you are looking to specialise in.

From my experience I have felt Kingston has really prepared me well for industry, as my lecturers have a lot of experience and create projects that feel really relevant. There is also a careers centre which helps you from finding a job to, creating a cv, writing a cover letter and more. How Kingston Prepares you for Industry - The Student Room

In terms of living in Kingston I really enjoy it, it feels really safe. There are lots of things to do with students often putting on events, the green spaces, lots of pubs and restaurants along the Thames.

woah yea same i didnt get into ucl either haha tbf i dont think i was realistic when applying to these schools, they are very selective and i dont think at a level my work is mature enough to (apply). i wasnt able to attend any open / offer holder days, but in the two times that i went to bath spa everytime i came back it just felt like a lovely city to travel around, but i just couldnt see myself living there for 3-4yrs .. wishing u all the best as well, feeling a lot of uncertainty for the future but we’ll get thru it :’)
