Both ways into teaching are very similar on paper. You spend at least 120 days on in a school in either, you have a mentor in both (maybe an additional one with university) and you have to pass the teachers' standards for both to get your QTS. With university, you start off with lectures and information in the uni and then would be put on placement 1, then 2, whereas with school you start off in a school and then have a contrasting placement. You will return to uni for training at different times - meeting with others on your course or you will be with other trainees in the school where you are training (depending on size of school)

Every course is organised differently though, whether they are university-led or a school centre, they offer added extras potentially and have different partners for placements,(how far do you want to travel and do you need public transport to get there/) so it is worth doing your homework into the different courses on offer.

Head to the Find site here to find courses suitable to you and read more; and attend an event where you can speak with providers and get a feel for what works for you. See events

If you want further advice and support with applying, including how to draft your personal statement, sign up for an adviser here

Good luck!
