is there any chance of politics and ir being in clearing?

i really regret not applying to the bath course for politics and ir, and i know that bath is open for clearing every year so i was just hoping to know if politics and ir is something i could potentially get an offer for through clearing. i cant find a list online of which of their courses are the most popular/oversubscribed, all i can see is that bath's stem courses are very sought after. does anyone have any idea of whether politics and ir could be available? obviously it wont be known until clearing actually opens but i just wanted to know if i shouldn't get my hopes up lmao
Hi there,

You will probably hear this from a lot of unis, but its almost impossible to predict what will be in clearing until results day. clearing officially opens on the 5th of June - UCAS will be the place to look. However you can only use clearing if you do not currently hold any offers, and so in order to do so you have to decline your F and I choices and release yourself into clearing. Please think long and hard before doing this - you have to be absolutely sure as offers cannot be reinstated. As the majority of our courses are oversubscribed and tend to attract a high calibur of applications I would not rely on PIR being in clearing - but as I said, we can't make any guarantees until results day!

I would ask yourself where your regret is coming from - do you still have offers from places you'd like to go to and will be happy? If so, then I'd advise you to go this year to one of your choices - I'm sure you'll have a fab time and get lots of new opportunities 🙂 . However, if you are strongly feeling like you've made the wrong decision and feel like you would not be happy at any of your choices then your best chance of getting a place here with PIR would be to take a year out and apply in the main cycle next year. This would be better than using clearing because we do not know what will be in clearing yet.

Does that help? If you have any more Qs please reach out but wishing you the best of luck 🙂

thank you for the response! is there any way to see the chances of a course being in clearing before results day? is it not possible to double check there are spaces available (via phone call and/or ucas or something similar) before declining your offers? i thought it was possible to call and check there is a space available before officially declining your offers
Yes, you are 100% correct.

If you want to double check, then from the 05th July you can look on UCAS clearing search and look at their course listings. If you want to check with us, then call us when you get your results on results' day and we can check for you if theres space (you can't do this before results day) - and if you manage to get a verbal offer, only then release yourself into clearing, when you've spoken to us or another uni and they've given you a verbal offer.

Hope this helps?
