How did you get better at english lit Dr Jekyll and Hyde? Do, you have any tips for the english language, specifically creative writing? I used to be good at english, but maths has always been my stronger side, and I had so many cover teachers over y9 and y10

These two were my worst subjects:
English Lang - 5 in paper 1, 2 in paper 2
English Lit - 4 in both papers
I did the paper 2s for b in my November mocks and the paper 1s a couple of weeks ago.

hey so i am the same like i used to be quite good at english but then i kind of downgraded, but the ways i improved again were these

so jekyll and hyde: this isn't sponsored or anything but i used lightuphub (you have to pay) and on a sheet i would write down the quotes and analysis and then memorise the analysis. i would use blurting on a whiteboard and mindmapping on a white board is quite good to learn the analysis and then saying it out loud till i remmeber it.

then just use those quotes u don't acc need that many bc u can link most to any theme.

if u can't get lightup hub, i would recommend pmt and yt videos, and make essay plans.
eg : repression: write a topic sentence and the quotes u would use. do this for each theme and character it makes it a lot easier.

jekyll and hyde is also very language rich, and so for every single point u make, analyse the technique's effect on the reader, PLUS link EVERY thing to context it's super helpful, and say stevenson's intention. these will get u into the top band

english language: creative writing: this is advice that i have been told and some people like it some don't, but at least for me the way i am revising is learning a sunny day description and a cold day description, with lots of language rich phrases.
i hand mt practice writing to my teacher to mark (do this for jekyll and hude too) and then i improve it based on the feedback,
and then in the exam i will do the description but use parts of my prewritten writing in it so tjat i alreasy have ideas of what to write and to ensure it is language rich. language rich phrases can be found online by hust searching and you can adapt.

an alternative approach is making a small short story that you can adapt to anything, and practice adapting it to past exam prompts. try mirroring a passage in a book in terms of the sentence lenghts and structures but not the words, i do this to practice writing without always starting with 'The' or 'I'

poetry and general analysing methods/structures: i do this by first spotting out every method, then i try and link it to something. this technique is kind of more of a stem way then a maths way, but i before hand look at analysis of techniques
eg: 'enjambment creates a fast pace reflecting the speaker's panic'
so i would remember this as a flow digaram in my mind: enjambment- fast pace- flow- panic
i do this for all texhniques to have a rough idea
then i think how does a fast pace or a flow link to the topic sentence and how can i FORCE ir to link
idk that is probably not the best approach but it is jow i do it to score marks for technique analysis

To be honest, I've been using the technique of generally memorising what every method does for Lang. As I can never seem to remember in the exam, I make notes about questions that can show curiosity, urgency, unknowing, and naivety (and I am terrible at sysnyms). How would you write an essay? I can write a thesis and points and evidence, but then my analysis is not good. I will write what something shows and indicates, but then what?
