Higher Physics

I'm planning on crashing Higher Physics next year. With SQA exams in the horizon should I try to look at Nat 5 Physics in preparation or not bother. Also I do Higher Chem and Maths and achieved As in the prelims and class tests will that make physics make it any easier for me?

maths will defo help but um tbh i would defo look over stuff. or at least watch videos on yt to get a feel for it. most of the people who crashed it last year (i do AH rn) did not do too hot, granted they were also lazy and probably would've done terribly regardless. but still! you have all summer to do some learning

over the summer it would definitely be useful to look over then n5 content - a lot of higher builds on n5, especially electricity 🙂

Alright I've decided that I'll definitely do some prep during the summer thanks for the insight!

Hey! - I crashed Physics myself, had previously studied Higher Biology, Chemistry, and Maths which definitely helped since there’s a lot of crossover with the scientific thinkingapproach to problems. If you’re comfortable with those kinds of subjects, then you should find physics okay, but it’s still a demanding crash course with a lot of new content!

I hadn't looked at content beforehand and found it okay with a lot of the general concepts from N5 being built upon so long as I kept up with classwork & asked about areas id missed from N5 it was okay (: - if you have the time it would be good to look over -but equally I wouldn't stress, best to just have a look a little before school starts back, don't stress yourself over summer!

Hope this helps

Physics is SO much worse than chemistry or maths at Nat 5. I’m easily getting A1s in both of them but with physics I’m barely scraping an A2, scared I’m going to get worse. Definitely look over the course first, I’ve heard that the difficulty increases dramatically at higher

The YouTube channel ‘The Physics Academy’ is a lifesaver. There is a 5 minute video on every single topic, sorted into unit playlists with worked exams and past papers. https://m.youtube.com/@thephysicsacad/playlists

Good luck! Hope it goes well!
