Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. Sorry no one has replied here! I just wanted to mention that we offer the opportunity to talk to some of our current staff and students through Unibuddy here: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/student-life/chat/
Many of the students will have been at Hillhead during first year so it might be worth asking on there what their experience was like with different accommodation options. I studied at the university a few years ago (I didn't stay in halls but did spend time with friends of mine there) and honestly I think you'll find that you can have a sociable experience in just about any of the options. There is quiet accommodation where people may not have gatherings or people over as much but other than that the social experience is really what you make of it with your flatmates and other friends.

Wherever you end up going I would also highly recommend getting involved in some society activity as they're a great place to meet people as they often host events near the start of the year for new people to get together and get a taste of what they do. You can have a look through some of the societies here: https://www.ausa.org.uk/getinvolved/activities/

all accommodations have different numbers of flatmates. all of them are very sociable and it’s more about joining groups and finding out about what’s going on around hillhead. I personally stayed in new carnegie and felt as though it was sociable and it is the only first year accommodation that has an en-suite. All of the accommodation types are on aberdeen’s websites so you just need to find something that fits your taste

I found that living in hillhead drives you mad. However New Carnegie and Grant are good if you want proximity to the bus stop, North Court is amazing as you get a ton of space and doesn't feel like a prison cell. Only downside is that it's inaccessible for some.
