First mosque in the Lake District

The question I really have regarding this, and maybe this is telling of the point we are at, is are you allowed an opinion on this?

Not bothered about this personally.

Who's stopping you? I must admit I simply don't have an opinion.

Be honest, are you apprehensive to have one? Even subconsciously.
What is wrong with having a mosque in the Lake District?

Should we be concerned about how some people are frightened to raise a criticism?

No, I'm not threatened by mosques, I've lived near several and have 0 bad experiences as a christian. I'm aware some have had controversy in the past but I don't yet feel a need to judge them all by those incidents, no more than I would any similar church, school, community centre etc.

The fact people are frightened to raise a criticism should be a clue.....

hundreds of people are speaking out against it on tiktok. and rightly so tbh. just build it elsewhere, stop ruining nature

But are they? Without more context it does feel a bit like trying to create something out of nothing.

Context would be what happens to people of other faiths and none in Muslim dominated parts of the world.

That's just because of Authoritarian leaders and not Islam.

That's nice. I more mean that no one is presently stopping you from having an opinion on a building so I don't see the point in trying to dance around and claim otherwise.

It's a place of worship, not for my faith but I don't see it doing me any harm whatsoever. I don't see any immediate grounds to object anyway? Someone might dislike the Islamic faiths but they're still allowed to buy buildings and do stuff like anyone else *shrug*

Respectfully, I think that's a bit naive.

well, sports are played outside so i can kinda understand that. but what's the point of having a mosque in a beauty spot, where most locals aren't muslim? it's kinda weird. i wish humanity would just move on already, all religions are rotten.

Its not in the lake district national park. Its next to barrow which has its challenges, so hardly in a beauty spot and few visitors to the lakes go to the (very) south west. There are already mosques in carlisle, penrith, lancaster which border the lake district somewhat and are more popular.

The Barrow-in-Furness suburbs aren't a beauty spot.
The only reason visitors go to Barrow-in-Furness is for Hotels.

i see. then a lot of articles etc are kinda misleading about the whole thing. still - can't wait for humanity to just free itself from the shackels of religion, lol
