Why are there so many atlanticists and Trump supporters in the UK?

I consider these people traitors not patriots. They clearly hate Britain as their rhetoric is entirely cynical and misanthropic and trump's America holds Britain in contempt. What's more even the more liberal non trump supporting atlanticists tend to be Blairites and Thatcherites who favour the US economic model over European models. I just can't figure out why people would look at inequality, America's health predicament and social policy and want to emulate that instead of looking to more progressive European ideas. Part of the reason, for example, we have so many foodbanks, so much homelessness, and we pump sewage into our seas is the emulation of the US economic model. All I can see that goes along with support for this is people who consume the propaganda of the super rich. It's saddening enough how economically and socially right wing the UK is, without heading even further from progressive European ideals and social systems that are proven superior.

I'd say most of them are children, idiots, redbaiters, really rich or just plain stupid. - in other words "the average American"

I was referring to Brits who support trump though. Of which there are a worrying number. It reeks of desperation.

Probably the same reasons. Kids who think it's funny when it isn't, rage baiters who just want attention, stupid people or rich people who only care about being more rich.

A lot of British Trump supporters give the impression they are just edgelords trying to be rebellious.

Of course there is a more malign element growing in Western conservative circles that believe democracy has had its day and believe oligarchy is the ideal form of government.

Which social ideals are you claiming as superior exactly? I think you've taken the worst things about America and claimed those as the things that pro USA Brits admire, while ignoring the positive things.

I would maintain that the first amendment is the greatest thing to exist in any country. Do you admire the Western European model of jailing/fining people for their words?
