How difficult is it for student finance to accept mitigating circumstances claim?

Hiii, I'm in the process of dropping out of second year uni due to mental health. The reasons are I didn't want to go to the university center I'm at but was forced to by my abusive parents in year 1. Now in year 2 my mental health is horrific, I've ended up isolated, I'm non contact with parents but they spent the past 6 months harrassing me anyway which lead to non contact with the rest of the faimily on both sides as well, I'm still dealing with dysphoria, was undiagnosed dyslexia which only just got diagnosed the other week and still waiting on an autism diagnosis to come in and overall my mental health is horrific. I've only not dropped out as I need the final matinance loan to cover my rent or I'll be homeless. I'm going to be applying for SFE with mitigating circumstances at the end April after I drop out. The evidence I will have is from my university center counseler. So it'll be cover letter and the evidence letter thingy from my counseler. Is this enough for it to get accepted? I'm compleatly screwed if it dosen't

Hi there,

Yes, this sounds fine - normally, a letter from a professional person like a counsellor is acceptable, so long as it confirms what happened and the effect this had on your studies.

We'd also recommend including a letter from yourself telling us what happened in your own words. Rest assured, if the assessment team need any further details they'll e-mail you to let you know.

Thanks, Graeme
