Helping Future vet applicants 💖

Hello everyone!!! 😆
My name is Jess and I applied to vet schools in the UK this year as a Year 13 (I applied to the RVC 5 year course, RVC gateway course, Edinburgh, Nottingham and Harper&Keele for anyone wondering)

It may seem a bit early to be sharing advice on applying but I’d like to help as many possible applicants as possible!!

I have a bunch of resources that I’ve made that might be helpful such as interview advice, vet med research and notes, vet med hot topic notes and I’m happy to share where and how I got work experience as well as I know this was hard to find by myself so I want to make it easier for others!

Ofc I still have to get the grades but I’ve luckily managed 4 offers and I’m still waiting to hear back from RVC gateway but I’m happy to share what I know up to this point!

If you have any questions at all, would like my resources or would just like someone to speak to about the process or have me as a little mentor then I’d be more than happy to do that 😚

I think preparation starts since the beginning of ur interest to the interview itself because it’s a whole process of learning and researching and showing interest if that makes sense.
In terms of actually interview prep I started around late October- early November!! (My interviews were all in December)

What did I do?
Well,
- researching hot topics (they may ask about whether you have heard of any or you could bring them up yourself to show just how keen you are)

- research into how a vet practice and the vet med world works (e.g first day competences

- practice mock interview questions with friends or family or teachers (chatGPT is great for generating some of these questions) and there are some websites too

I have some written up documents with interview specific advice(for interviews in general (vet med specific) and MMIS) so just let me know if you’d like those!
