Student finance overpayment

I have previously been overpaid student finance. I am wanting to do midwifery this year (I have an interview next month) but I’m worried about funding. Can I arrange monthly payments that don’t affect my maintenance loan amount if I pay along side receiving it? Or can an affordable amount be deducted from it?

It’s taken me years to get to this point and i really don’t want my funding to be what gets in the way of me finally achieving my dream (should I get it that is).

Thanks

Hi there,

Is this an overpayment from a previous Maintenance Loan you had with us, or is it about repayments instead?

Thanks, Graeme

It’s an overpayment of maintenance loan, prenatal grant, and a term of student finance. I have arranged a payment plan but I’ve experienced it before where it’s been taken off my future maintenance loan.

Thanks

Hi Rebecca,

An overpayment won't stop you from re-applying for student finance so long as you have some arrangement to repay it at the moment.

If your course is expected to begin this September or later feel free to apply online now and we'll be able to confirm exactly what you're entitled to.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Thanks for your reply. Will I be able to get full maintenance if I have the repayment in place for that?

Thanks

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, when a student returns back to study and a previous overpayment is active on the account, this is usually clawed back from the new academic years support. At present, the payment plan will be in place until that time. However, we would advise to have the application to be fully assessed to allow confirmation of how this would impact your finances, and at that time we would advise to contact us if you feel this may compromise your ability to continue your studies. Thanks, Stephen.
