Redundancies and strike action at Cardiff

Whilst many UK Unis have ££ problems at the moment, the situation at Cardiff has resulted in "1,000 staff have been warned their jobs are at risk with 355 academic posts earmarked to go in brutal savings proposed by the university including closures of academic schools and degree courses".

Whatever spin the University tries to put on this, it will have a very direct impact on students - Cardiff University staff vote to strike and take action that could disrupt graduations in cuts row

It's absolutely shambolic what Cardiff Uni is doing. The way their own staff and students found out about those cuts in the first place is disgraceful, and the absolutely lack of support from the Uni for those affected is just rubbing salt in the wound.

I was considering Cardiff for my own future study but now I'm incredibly hesitant, especially since I was looking into doing a healthcare degree. They shut down the school of nursing, what's stopping them from cutting other healthcare courses? Cardiff has just created a huge uphill battle for themselves to restore their reputation.

So crazy! One of my friends had an offer at Cardiff for music and it was going to be his top choice until he saw ON THE NEWS that his course had been cut. Such an awful way to find out.
