Second degree funding for Health Foundation year as part of a Nursing Degree

Dear SFE team, would the course H084 Health Foundation Pathway leading to a BSc (Hons) degree in Nursing at the University of Huddersfield be eligible for second degree funding as it is the foundation year for the nursing course? Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi Cadi,

We're not able to find this course on our database, do you have a course code for it?

Or is it more on an access course?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,
I'm pretty sure that H084 is the course code, it's a foundation year which counts as year zero for several allied healthcare and nursing degrees, after foundation year you progress to your chosen healthcare degree.
It's a new foundation from 2024, and on the Huddersfield Uni site it lists it as the initial year of four, but you specialise after foundation, which is why l wasn't sure about the second degree funding situation. If you can find out, that would be great, thanks.

Apologies, it's actually HO84 rather than H zero, sorry!

Hi Cadi, unfortunately that is also not showing on the course database, What level is the course itself? Thanks, Stephen.

It's a foundation year course, so counting as a year zero before opting for your specific healthcare pathway.
The Uni website has it listed as a foundation year for health and social care, but then it has various allied health profession options including nursing. Hope that helps!! Thanks!

There's a course that I think matches it, does this sound like the one?

Health and Social Care (FT Ext frm Fdn Yr)

This just means that the foundation year is year zero, like you said, and then you move on to a 3 year course.

Thanks, Graeme
