Networking and Career preparation

Networking and career preparation are extremely important for postgraduate students, who are looking to transition into the professional world. As a Postgraduate Student, networking has been an important part of my career preparation, and my experience has enhanced the value of building meaningful relationships. I had the opportunity to attend a networking event for women a few months back at Barclays, which was a great experience to connect and engage with industry experts. As a member of the Futurology Society at my university, I am also involved in organizing events in collaboration with the Human Resources Management Society (HRM). These events offer unique opportunities to connect and build relationships with people outside of the University, including industry experts who provide valuable insights and career advice. Additionally, my university also organizes networking events and career fairs, allowing students to connect with potential employers and gain a better understanding of the career landscape. These opportunities and experiences have helped me develop the necessary skills for exploring the professional world, from learning how to communicate effectively to understanding the importance of staying connected with industry trends. Networking paired with career preparation opportunities that I have myself created and the opportunities that my university offers has been the basis forming my professional journey. It’s a continuous process of learning, growing, and building relationships that help me toward my career goals. I strongly recommend postgraduates engage in networking events and take the opportunities that your university offers, because you get so much out of it. How are you preparing for your career goals? Have you been to any Networking events recently?
