as title states, it is a course I am interested in and want to know what I am getting myself into.
Thanks.
Any university undergraduate degree is nominally "sized" at 1200 hours of work per year, where 10 hours is 1 credit - so 120 credits per year.
The way courses vary is in how much of that time is in lectures, seminars, etc. and how much is independent study. (There's a lot of independent study at uni.)
UCL say in the web page for this course (here) that "22% of a student's time during the two teaching terms will be spent in lectures, seminars and tutorials. The remainder of your time will be spent in independent study and assessment."
Looks like 1st year philosophy modules are 1 hr lecture and 1 hr seminar and history of art 2 hr lecture +/- 2 hr seminar. So probably 10-12 contact hours a term. Of course you are realistically expected to be spending about 30-40 hours a week on your studies including contact hours, so a lot of time will be spent on independent study/preparation for seminars/working on assignments etc.
