UCL History of Art offers

Hi I’m an international student from Australia who has applied to study ‘History of Art’ and ‘German and history of art’ at UCL.

For some context, I already have achieved grades, which I have submitted on the UCL portico in mid-December, as soon as I received them. (I have applied on the 23rd of September.) I unfortunately didn’t meet their entry requirements (my predicted had been a lot higher, but I had what would be considered as mitigating circumstances which affected my performance.) For ‘German and history of art’ the requirement was a 91, and ‘History of Art’ is 93, and I received a 88.25. My predicted had been around 94-95. I’ve got a rejection for the ‘German and history of art’ course earlier this month, and am still waiting to hear back on the ‘history of art’ course. My subjects in school were: English advanced, English Extension, maths advanced, modern history, ancient history, history extension and German. (German didn’t count towards my final grades, as it had been the lowest of my grades, and as I had taken a extra subject, but the admissions can still see the score I had received, as it is still listed.)

Now my question is, realistically is there still a chance I could get in for this course? I’m just confused as I was fully expecting to receive a rejection for this course within a few days of receiving the rejection of my other application. It’s been almost a month (or perhaps slightly more, I can’t remember exactly when I had received the rejection) and since it’s within the same department I’m confused on why I haven’t heard back? Especially since I’ve seen most international students receive their offers quite early, more so if they have achieved grades, similar to my case.

I personally think that my personal statement had been quite strong, in which I have mentioned my various leadership positions I’ve held, all in relations to the course I’ve applied for, as well as my high interest for the subject itself, where my passion had initiated, where it has led me, etc. I’ve also mentioned my unique international background of having lived across four different countries throughout my school years.

I’ve been getting very anxious, as UCL has been a dream school of mine for years now, and whilst in my head I’m thinking it’s a rejection due to my grades, the unclarity is making me more hopeful as time goes on.

Would anyone have any guidance regarding this? Thanks!
