Medicine at imperial,kcl,qm,ucl

I hope you are well. I am interested in applying for Medicine at [Imperial/UCL/KCL/QMUL] and wanted to check whether my academic profile meets your entry requirements.

I achieved the following GCSEs:
9s in Maths, Biology, and Physics
8s in Design & Technology and Chemistry
7s in English Literature, English Language, Economics, Geography, and German

I am currently predicted A*A*AA in A-level Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Sociology. Additionally, I am eligible for a bursary and receive free school meals.

Would these grades be considered competitive for an application to Medicine at your university? I would appreciate any guidance on my suitability for your course.

Your results so far are well above the threshold/min requirement for these 4 med schools, as they don't score GCSE once you passes their thresholds, which you did.

The most important thing is UCAT next as this is very important assessment to secure an interview opportunity. Out of these 4, Imperial has the highest cutoff for UCAT at 3020. But as you are FSM, it's 2820 for Imperial based on last admission cycle.

Obviously with the new 2700 scoring, it's not going to be easy to gauge what threshold will be for 26 entry, although one can extrapolate info here and there. In any case, you need to nail UCAT.

Thanks you jonjon7 I thought kcl ranked GCSEs though so I was partially scared whether I meet these GCSE requirements

Yes my apologies. KCL does score your GCSE. To be honest, the 4 med schools you have chosen for now can be risky but that ultimately depends on your UCAT and predicted grades, with the latter less if you are able to score above their minimum requirement.

Imperial - your GCSE is well above, no issues unless they change their criteria for 2026 entry, and your FSM will place you on contextual consideration.

UCL - similar to Imperial but unless your home post code falls under their contextual criteria, you will be considered as non-contextual at UCL.

KCL - same as UCL, most likely non-context unless your post code is polar 4. Should be ok for KCL with your GCSE but best consider another med school that does not score GCSE heavily.

QMUL - FSM will be considered as contextual but that's post interview offer.

Do start early with your UCAT prep to give yourself some leadway rather than stressing out in that 4-6 weeks of prep!

Do you I should start UCAT now

Do you I should start UCAT now

You can start 1-2 hours per week, understanding the sections. Do untimed questions, get as many correct as possible, revisit. Then 6-8weeks before UCAT ramp up your time per day and target timed mocks.
