Hi there, if you hold a higher qualification (masters not included) than the one you are applying for then this will normally block your support. (So for clarification, If you hold an undergraduate qualification (Ba, BaHons), then apply for another course starting at the beginning again of another undergraduate). The only possible route may be the BA Primary Education with Art, as these can be classed as exemption courses, however we do take into consideration previous study for this review. Do you currently hold Qualified Teacher Status? (QTS). How many years have you previously studied at undergraduate level? Thanks, Stephen.

Hi there,

Undergraduate Psychology is an exception when you study it part-time, yes. So, if you have a particualr university in mind it may be worth asking if it's possible to study the course part-time.

About the BA in teaching, is that a PGCE course, or is it a standard 3 or 4 year course?

Thanks, Graeme

Can psychology not be taken as full time. The primary education is this course https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/subject-area/education-ug/ba-qts-primary-education-with-art-specialism

Would I get funding for this course even though I have an undergraduate?

The psychology one I was looking at also is this one

Thank you

Hi Millsd997,

Psychology is only an exception to previous study and equal level qualification rules if it is a part time course. Therefore those courses are not eligible as they show as full time.

Thanks, Clare

Hi there, if you are studying a PGCE that's two years or less and don't have a Qualified Teacher Status then you'd be eligible for the full funding.

If it's a Bachelor of Education (BEd) or Bachelor Degree with QTS which is usually a duration of three or four years (and you have a qualification) then you'd be able to apply for maintenance loan and any supplementary grants. Thanks, Jason

Hi there,

If you have already studied a Postgraduate course or have a Postgraduate qualification you would not get funding for another one.

Thanks, Drew

Hi Millsd997,

Yes, Psychology is a course that is an exception to previous study and equal level qualification rules if it is part time only.
