what do I take for A Level?

so I've already chosen but most people are telling me that my subjects are a bad idea.

I chose politics, english lit, maths, further maths.

I think I want to go into politics/law/finance because my strengths lie in english and maths. I also love keeping up with politics currently and just looking into older political systems too. I'm predicted 9s in maths, further maths, and english, and also achieved 9s in them in mocks.

HOWEVER
I think gcse further maths is hard and the 9 is sort of all luck. a level is going to be MILES harder. I think I want to do it bc I really like maths but most people have recommended Economics? mainly bc its interwoven with politics and maths and supposedly I'll enjoy it more?

Should I?

tl;dr economics or further maths?

Remember that you would still have the option of dropping any one of these subjects if you realise its too much.
For a Politics degree you do not need to take 4 subjects at A level-whatever your school tries to tell you. And out of these subjects, Eng Lit probably has the toughest work-load, not Maths.

Id suggest taking all 4 then dropping one of fm, politics or English lit.
For finance fm would be really useful so keep that in mind.

Your subjects are perfectly fine! If you enjoy maths, you will enjoy further maths too as it’s more maths (except 100x more interesting than normal maths - you get to study all sorts of funky things like imaginary numbers, polar coordinates, etc).

Also, there is nothing wrong with doing 4 A levels if you enjoy all of them, can manage the workload and especially if one of them is further maths (as it’s quite a frequently-dropped A level subject; you don’t want to start with 3 and be stuck with further maths if you decide you don’t want to continue with it).

Further maths will help you massively in any finance/economics-related course. Law has no subject requirements so you don’t need to worry about that. Your A levels are great for politics as well.

Summary: your A levels are perfectly fine, best of luck for GCSEs!
