UCL Bartlett bullying and harassment

Hi there, I have heard a lot about toxic culture at UCL architecture colleges and how students are under undue stress and dropping out. Any insight on the details behind it would be helpful please to understand whether sending my daughter there just for the name can create significant issues for her personal wellbeing.
Thank you
There was a big report about it a couple years ago and they're evidently trying to improve that. Not sure how well they're doing in terms of that since then.

You can read their apologies and the official report about it here: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/2022/jun/ucl-apologises-and-takes-action-following-investigation-bartlett-school-architecture

There's also an article about it a year after the report was issued on what had happened since then: https://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/the-bartlett-scandal-is-the-architecture-school-now-safe-for-students

Sounds like some changes were made at that time but with mixed success/engagement from the Bartlett. That said it's been 2 further years since then so things could have changed significantly!

UCL generally does not have a good reputation for the way its treats its undergraduate students - too big, too impersonal, and not good on student support when things go wrong.

Hi! currently a student at the bartlett and just started first year, i would say the area has entirely changed since the bartlett report, im pretty sure they fired the teachers which were seen as toxic a long time ago. For stress as well, i think at any uni architecture is stressful but especially top ones such as cambridge, edinburgh and cardiff your likely to endure more due to the people around you being at a higher level of experience or similar level which can lead you to self doubt. Overall though im enjoying my time here and if im ever feeling stressed or my friends are there is so many services open in ucl and the bartlett!! I hope this helps

Thanks for the post, but it's conveniently anonymous! No history = no credibility. You can be anyone! Even a member of staff 🙂
