what med schools really the most heavily on GCSES?

HI everyone, im going to be applying to medicine in 2026 and ive been trying to find unis that, when deciding who goes to interviews, rank applicants with GCSES as a big factor, does anyone have a list/know any? like for example i know leicster and oxford do a 50% GCSES and 50% UCAT ranking, do any other schools do that? thank youuuu

You need to go through each medical schools website admissions section. Most clearly state what they’re looking for and many you can score yourself once you have your GCSE results and UCAT score. Yes, this takes ages but a strategic application is much better than a wish list one. They look for different things. Don’t waste a choice by not doing your homework! Don’t rely on what you read on here. This can change year on year too.

Hey, I applied this year and this website was super helpful for me (https://www.medschools.ac.uk/studying-medicine/how-to-apply-to-medical-school-in-the-uk/entry-requirements)
It breaks down all the medical schools entry requirements and more information about their admissions process
Hope this helps!

I would really recomend kent and medway medical school for that, they compare your GCSE results (attainment 8 to your schools average attainment 8 score. Those with the biggest difference between their results and their schools results get interviews. I think a general rule of thumb is like ideally 25% higher than your schools average. I applied this year with strong GCSES (888888776. especially compared to my school where the average grade was a 4) and manmaged to get an interview and then an offer - even though my UCAT and predicted grades were very poor. Hope this helps !!!
