GCSE Panic

Hey everyone, i’ve just got my mocks back and i got
9- English language
9-Economics
8-English lit
8-Geography
7-RS
7-Spanish
7-Physics
7-Maths
6-Chemistry
5-Biology
I want to go up at least one grade in all my subjects and 2-3 grades in biology. Is that possible?
Also with biology i don’t really understand how I got a 5 when I personally feel like i understand the content way better than chem or physics.

Hey, it's ok. Biology is easily my worst science, and alot of my friends hate it too. There is still over a month left to go before the start of the GCSEs, so you can definitely bring up your grades. My advice for anyone with just passing GCSEs (I don't mean this as an insult) is to prioritize subjects, so you can cross into the A category (7/8/9). So, if you are willing to put the work in, then you can get what you want.

heyy i do think its possible, as i went up 4 grades in geography in the space of two months of my mocks (im also in yr11), for biology, i would say looking at the markscheme is so important, yes ur understanding may be there, but are u putting in the specific words from the markscheme that get you the marks like stuff like that - it'll really help bc i remember we had a q on homeostasis from our mock
and you had to put specifically "to maintain optimum function" for the second mark
gl w ur studies u got this!!

Bio is my fave subject (i am studying it at uni next year) but it’s also always been one of my hardest subjects! I think the problem is that the exam questions for biology always seem to be more challenging compared to chemistry and physics. If you feel you have a good grasp of the content, id recommend focusing your time on exam technique by doing lots of past paper questions and marking them vigorously! It takes time but eventually youll get a better understanding of what the examiners are looking for and hopefully that will help boost your grade! Savemyexams has some pretty useful practice questions organised by topic and difficulty - which might be a good place to start! Best of luck

For biology I reccomend going over every topic quickly but so that you actually understand, make flashcards and visit them often so you don’t forget the content. Blurting is good so you know what you need to work on, ask your biology teacher a lot of questions. Most importantly (this goes for every subject realistically) familiarise yourself with the exam papers and the mark scheme so you don’t waste time in the exam as you know exactly what the examiners want to see.

Definitely not there’s a lot of time left actually,if you’re doing really good in other subjects.

For Physics, I recommend cyberphysics, best resource on the internet, same goes for 1st class maths for maths, absolutely brilliant resources that will get you a 9 if used properly

Get your papers back and see where you lost marks. Traffic light the topics and tackle the amber ones first.

I wouldn't make them now - not every finds them useful.
