Medical school dilema

Hi I’m just looking for some advice I’ve received medicine offers from Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle and I’m really stuck on a decision. At the minute I’m leaning towards Newcastle and Liverpool but I’m 50/50 on them both. I’m not just interested in the course but also the city if anyone can give any advice it’d be much appreciated:smile:)

Hi! Congrats on your offers—what an exciting position to be in! I wanted to chime in as someone who’s had experience in Newcastle, and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. The city is amazing—not just for studying but for living, too. Newcastle has a beautiful balance between being vibrant and lively while also feeling friendly and welcoming.

The environment is fantastic for students, with a great mix of cultural landmarks (like the Quayside and the Baltic Centre), a buzzing social scene, and plenty of green spaces if you ever want to unwind. Plus, the people are incredible—Geordies are some of the friendliest folks you’ll ever meet, and the sense of community is so strong.

As for Newcastle University itself, I’ve heard nothing but great things about its medicine course. The facilities are top-notch, and the city’s size means everything is accessible, with plenty of opportunities for placements in the surrounding area.

Liverpool is a great city too, but if you're looking for a place where you’ll feel at home while also being part of a vibrant student community, I’d say Newcastle edges it out. Best of luck with your decision—you can’t go wrong either way, but Newcastle will always have my vote! 😊
