Private vs state schools: academic impact at university.

Does going to a private school significantly impact the chance of getting a 1st class degree from universities, relative to state educated undergraduates? Is this also true for Oxbridge, who pride themself on having very fair admissions processes?

Once you get into the uni, the race is re-started.

Well... there might be some data on this online. Like the previous commenter said, it restarts from what I have seen. University is very different from a-levels, and regardless of background, people may choose to work harder or less.

There was some research ages ago that indicated something along the lines of "Oxford state school-educated students eventually outperform Oxford privately-educated students". I think this study may be the one I was thinking of? https://www.theguardian.com/education/2015/nov/05/top-state-school-pupils-get-better-degrees-than-those-from-private-schools?CMP=share_btn_url

State school students with the same A level results outperform Priavte school students at uni.

There have been a number of studies - TLG posts one and here is another: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-26773830
