The Student Room Group

I am currently 19 years old and have started college.seek advice from senior.

I took a year gap , which I regret. I had hoped to gain admission to a prestigious university but did not. Now I am studying at a third or forth-tier university and concerned about the future. Could you advise me on what steps should take next. Because I had the Financial problems that's why had to go there

Is this University in the UK - because we don't call Uni 'College' and all UK Unis charge essentially the same fees.

Hello!

Congratulations on continuing with your journey and studying at a university currently. I hope that has been going well. It is completely normal to feel lost and alone in your professional journey, just remember you are not alone on this journey and a lot of people tend to feel the same way throughout university.

The most important step is to get in touch with a careers service at your university. There should definitely be one, if not look at online networks like bright network etc. to find career related events.

I am unsure of what exact degree or subject you are studying but according to that, I would suggest to look online for the subject related student help networks. For example, for law students there are free student networks like Allaboutlaw or legal cheek that help students in their legal journey for free and everyone can get access to this.

I would also advise to get in touch with people and mentors on Linkedln to get in touch with some companies that you are interested in and see what opportunities they advertise.

Last step would be to make a plan about how and when you will make time to do the above things.

I hope this helps, please do get in touch and let us know if these things have worked for you!!

Take care!!
