Getting funding for a second degree in Psychology

Hi,

I studied an undergad degree in Journalism and graduated in 2013 with a 2.1. Since then I've worked as an English tutor abroad and in the UK (as a private self employed tutor). I've realised that teaching isn't for me and that I would give my right arm to go back to uni and do a psychology degree. But I definitely don't have that kind of money, and so am looking for funding.

What are the chances of it happening? I've found lots of conflicting information online, some people have managed to do this exact same thing - what would have helped their case in the application process?

I should also mention that I have an access to higher education diploma with a module being in psychology. And I'd be 43 years old when putting in my application, perhaps even 44.

Cheers,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Psychology is an exception when studied part-time.

So, if you decide to study part-time you'll be entitled to a Tuition Fee Loan for the duration. Also, if the course isn't distance learning you can get a Maintenance Loan too.

If you have a university that you're interested in it may be worth asking if they offer a course like this on a part-time basis.

Thanks, Graeme
