Should I do the degree apprenticeship?

I recently got into a degree apprenticeship but apparently they are not good. It’s for civil engineering

I am not sure about the company but apparently degree apprenticeship programs are not worth it. So what people have been telling me is that you will basically be a slave to the company and that you won’t be able to work for any other companies or places after you complete it.

My programme will be 5 years long. There isn’t much people talking about the company that I applied for and there is only 1 guy who is doing the apprenticeship in the company ( he is in the last year of his course) but honestly I am not sure on what to do?

Do you guys have any advice?

Hey!

That is so wrong! you can 100% work for other companies after your placement- you will have qualification like anyone else but also work experience which is very valuable!

they're very tough! you most likely will be doing "runt work" at the beginning until you know enough to be trusted with your own responsibilities within the work place.

If you want to talk more about it you're welcome to PM me, I can't say much about the company as im unsure which one it is, but these are incredibly competitive and hard to get so be proud of yourself!! This is a big achievement and opportunity!

Surely you had to research the company, their values, what they offer in terms of support, mentoring etc and the apprenticeship specifics, what you will be doing and the attached course at the relevant university or provider! ???
I suggest you contact the company and get all the information you want in order to make your own informed decision.
But basically a paid job with a degree at the end and 5 years experience instead of university debt is a no-brainer!!
