Hi everyone, I’m struggling to pick my insurance choice and would love some advice!
I’m firming Bath (A*AA or AAA with an A in EPQ) as my first choice because I love the course and location. My A-levels are Physics, Maths, Further Maths, and EPQ, with predicted grades of A*AA (I already have an A in Maths because I fast-tracked last year, resitting a unit to try for an A* as I was very close). I don’t have a predicted grade for my EPQ, but I’m expecting a B.
I’ve received offers from the following universities:
Bath: A*AA or AAA with an A in EPQ (Joint Maths & Physics)
York: AAA (Joint Maths & Physics)
Exeter: ABB (Physics)
St Andrews: Still waiting for a response.
I visited York and liked the course and campus, but I’m a bit concerned that AAA isn’t much of a safety net compared to Bath’s offer. I went to Exeter this weekend and didn’t like their physics course (it focuses too much on computers and astrophysics), but I do like their Maths course and could potentially switch to that if needed as I really liked the campus in Exeter.
I live in South Wales, so Bath is the best distance-wise, and both York and St Andrews are quite far. Exeter’s offer of ABB is much lower, so it feels like a safer backup, but I’d be committing to a physics course I’m not too keen on unless I can switch.
Would Exeter be a better insurance choice, or should I go for York even though it’s a bit risky? Also, does anyone have any experience switching courses at Exeter? Also, does anyone know when St Andrews typically responds? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance! 😊
