Scam or should I phone bank?

Hi

I just got a text message from NatWest apparently and a voicemail to phone them back as there's been suspicious activity on my account and in the text they list 3 payments that I don't recognise and that my card is blocked.

so I go to my app and there's no notifications about suspicious activity and I always have to approve payments in the app but no notifications for these payments and there not showing in pending nor do I have anything to state my account is blocked.

So I then brought something online to see if my card is blocked because my thinking is if my card really is blocked I won't be able to buy anything but I was able to buy something online and approve it so does this mean that my card is not blocked then?

Could this just be a scam or should I still phone NatWest?

It's a scam.

Likely a scam, but if you're unsure and want to make sure you can go to the official natwest website, grab the number off there and give them a call. Do NOT call the number back that texted and called you, its a very common pattern that scammers use to lure you into disclosing sensitive information.

If it was truly blocked like the text said I wouldn't be able to use my card to buy online would I? As I've just used it again and it went through.

It was a scam, banks don't communicate stuff like this by voicemail or text.

Thank yeah I've figured it's a scam now as the text said my card was blocked yet I made 2 online purchases last night and used my card in Sainsbury's this morning all normal. Scary how they knew my name though in the voicemail they knew my first and last name
