Chemical engineering in bath or edinburgh uni?

Hello,
I applied for chemical engineering and got offers from both Bath and Edinburgh.

But I am not sure which one to make my firm choice because I heard that Edinburgh is a beautiful city and and the course is very good. But on the other hand Bath is ranked 4th for chemical engineering while Edinburgh is 6th or 7th. Also both unis offer a professional placement or study abroad.

Could I have some advice from anyone studying at those unis or anyone who had a similar dilemma.

Thanks

Both unis are similarly ranked for chemical engineering so I wouldn’t worry about that aspect.

It boils down to other factors:

Do you want to do 4 years at edi or 3 years at bath?

Which campus/city did u like better if u have visited both cities/campus?

Which one is more affordable for you if money will be a problem?

I think both unis are respectable and good in their own way, anyway good luck.

Hi there,

Congrats on your offers from those two great unis! Choosing a uni is a very personal decision and you are the best judge of what's best for you.

My advice would be to prioritise A) the course content - which do you think you would enjoy more and find more engaging?, B) campus vibe - have you visited them? where did you feel most at home? Where could you better see yourself? and C) city - where did you like best? Which excited you more? Bath is quite a bit smaller than Edinburgh as a city but still has plenty to do and see for its cosier size - what kind of city would suit your needs and wants best? And how far away would you want to be from home?

Its really good to hear both of your courses offer placement years as this will add its weight in gold to your grad CV whichever you choose! At the end of the day its about visualising your life at each and how you would feel being a student there. Perhaps write a Bath VS Edinburgh pros and cons list and see if there emerges a clear winner for you?

I hope this helps, huge best of luck whichever direction you choose to go in!
