Grades dropped and in mocks for law place

Really worried predicted grades a star A A.
Mocks a star B B not sure what has happened had offers from York Leeds Manchester and Northumbria Durham rejected me.
York and Manchester said no grades offer retracted. Does anyone know if these units ever do clearing in Law.

Sorry can you elaborate?

Are you saying you had offers and then these offers were withdrawn because of your mock grades?

Okay, I've reread your original post - given what you've said - and it makes more sense.

York, Leeds and Manchester gave you offers
Northumbria Durham rejected you.

You're now more concerned about meeting your offers, in light of the results of the mock that you've had.
That's understandable. We're essentially in April now, there's still time to turn it around if you work your socks off.

I can't tell if they would do clearing for those subjects, given that law is generally competitive and popular. I would focus on meeting the offer instead.

Okay - what prompted you to pick it as a choice for your UCAS application?

Hey there,

I totally get how stressful this situation must feel especially after working so hard and getting those amazing predicted grades. First of all, try not to be too hard on yourself. Mock results can be tough, and a drop doesn't mean all is lost. A*BB is still a really strong set of results, and universities will usually take a range of factors into account before making final decisions.

As for York and Manchester, they’re both competitive for Law and don’t typically make many (if any) offers through Clearing but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Some top unis do enter Clearing if spaces open up after results day, especially if fewer applicants meet their conditions than expected. It’s worth keeping an eye on UCAS Clearing listings early on results day, and have your phone and UCAS details ready just in case you need to call.

Also, it might be worth reaching out directly to the universities you’re still holding offers for, like Leeds or Northumbria, to clarify their position if you don’t hit your offer exactly some are more flexible than you'd think, especially if your personal statement, references, or admissions test performance were strong.

You’re clearly determined and capable, and sometimes the path into Law isn’t always a straight line but that doesn’t make it any less valid. Keep your options open, stay in the loop with UCAS updates, and speak to your school or college advisor for support. You’ve got this and no matter what happens, you will find your way into a legal career.

So you have 4 offers in hand, Leeds, Manchester, Northumbria and York.

Don't worry too much, some RG law schools went into Clearing last year. So the unis may be lenient on the grades. You still have chances even if you miss the grades.

Concentrate at your exam and strive for the highest grades. You can make it.

Gap year student for context( already sat A- Levels last year)

I had the same predicted grades as yourself when applying in October Year 13, and also achieved them on the final exams.

However, on the Year 13 mocks, I achieved ABC and felt similar to how I’m sure you may be right now- yet I worked both hard (but more importantly) efficiently for the last month before exams.

Don’t forget the amount of revision time doesn’t in itself guarantee high quality revision- not sure what subjects you take, but I’d suggest you stick to some easy form of content revision( YT videos often help or website vids) to quickly nail content- and then( the important part) focus on past papers constantly-

this will cut any extra passive wasted time out, and will let you focus on what will actually be in front of you on the day- you’re in a much better position than I was, and the transition from a B to an A usually isn’t as difficult as A- A*.

Ofc- these 3 definitely work with the advice I’ve given, as technique will play a huge role in securing those A/A*s- quick content revision, lots of practice essays-
Best of luck for your exams!

If you can get the actual past papers from previous years on your exam board, they usually come with a mark scheme, to use to check concepts after you’ve completed the paper-

I imagine you can get these on the website for your exam board- e.g. OCR A- Level History Past Papers 2017 etc…
