Who was in the wrong here?

I went out with a few mates on Friday night. We were sitting in the beer garden. Anyway, I went to the bar with this one mate and there was a long wait. In the queue my mate fell into conversation with this girl and I joined in a bit. She seemed a bit merry like she had had a few drinks. We eventually got our drinks and ended up chatting a bit more at the bar. After a few minutes I realised my mate wanted to talk to this girl alone so I left him to it and went back outside. I saw them in the bar chatting. About fifteen minutes later he came out with a face like thunder and had a massive go at me for wrecking his chances with this girl, apparently he had asked her for her number and she had declined and it was my fault. To make matters worse we went to the bus stop at the end of the night and she was there and was rude to both of us. She swore at me and called my mate a weirdo or something. I have no idea why. Can someone tell me who was in the wrong here.
