Hey! I'm Ali, a Law student at the University of Reading. Let me know if you've got any questions about Law, and I'll be sharing my experiences below.

How did you decide you wanted to study Law?

I decided to study law because of my interest in how the UK’s legal system is able to shape our society and impact people’s lives. Studying Criminology at A-level has also deepened my curiosity regarding how justice is achieved, as well as the role of our current justice system in maintaining both fairness and accountability, which in turn reinforced my decision to study law at university.

What have I enjoyed about studying Law at Reading?

I have enjoyed the engaging and intellectually stimulating nature that I have experienced while studying law at the University of Reading, which has in turn allowed me to develop skills that are important for law, such as strong research and analytical skills. Furthermore, the supportive environment (both academic and wellbeing wise) at the University of Reading has further enhanced my learning experience at the University while studying law, which has in turn reinforced my passion to become a solicitor.

Hello everyone. Today is the last day of the Law takeover, but if you have any questions you can still add them to this thread or message me on Unibuddy!

What tips would I give to someone applying for Law?

The tips that I would give to someone who’s applying for Law would be to stay informed on current legal affairs and news, as this can maintain and demonstrate their genuine interest in Law to the university that they are applying to, while also showing how dedicated they are to the field. It is also important to show relevant experience, by for example, completing legal work experience (either online or in-person), or participating in mooting competitions as these can help develop important skills for law, such as communication and research skills, which in turn, can strengthen their university application to study law.

Good luck with your application!

Ali (2nd year LLB Law)
