Can't change my details??

Hi,

I applied for a new student loan (tuition and maintenance) about three weeks ago and on it I put that I was currently living at my uni address, not at my home address - i.e. yes most of the time I live in my student accommodation but I think it meant my permanent address, which is my home one. After having applied I think this was the wrong thing to put; the page after that asked me why I wasn't living with my parent(s) so I think that it assumed that I'm estranged from them, which isn't the case.

I don't want to potentially get done for fraud so I tried to change this on my application on the SFE website but I can only change my contact address, not specifically where I actually live.

Is it worth just cancelling my application and starting again?? I've being going round in circles trying to change these details, SFE's phone number and Twitter page just lead to a dead end.

I'd be grateful for any advice!

Hi Vincent,

Have we asked you to provide estrangement evidence? You are able to say you are not living at your parental home and we would not assume you were estranged. Did your parents receive an email to support your application?

Thanks, Drew

No, you haven't, I suppose it was just the way it was phrased on the website. And yes my parents did receive an email, thanks for the reply! I assume I can just carry on with the application?

Also I don't want SFE to think that I don't live with my parents, because that isn't true. I don't want it to cause any potential hassle in the future, e.g. when my parents have to fill in their financial information. As I said I tried to change this but I couldn't find any way to do this on the website, is there anything else that I can do? I rang the number provided but it was just an automated voice which ended up giving me a text link to my account on SFE, where it told that I could change my address in my personal details section. As said before, this was my contact address, not my actual home address, so this didn't fix the problem.

Hi Vincent,

Yes - if you get them to login and submit their details to support your application then this will go to be processed in an estimated 6 working days for you. Thanks, Jason
